By the way, I think she has some pretty cool hair styles. I found her when I was googling hair ideas for my wedding a few years ago. Her hair type is totally different from mine so a lot of her techniques don't actually work for my hair. But it's still fun to watch! :P
Anyways, so I decided that I needed some highlights too after watching this! I don't know why this idea never occurred to me before. I have clip in extensions in my own hair color, which I bought to wear for my wedding as well and I use them sometimes when I go out. But I never thought of the possibility of getting different colors to create highlights! So I bought a set of 7 piece red hair extensions on ebay for pretty cheap (just do a search on ebay and tons will come up), similar to the set she uses in the video. I like human hair extensions because they last longer and you can curl and wash them just like your own hair. But I have a lot of hair naturally, so I just bought the thinnest set (cheapest too). I didn't know what length to get so I got 22 inch ones, which turned out to be a little too long for my hair, so I think I'll cut them. They look pretty cool though I think!
My current hair cut has a little bit of shorter layers on the back, so you can see the extensions quite well peeking out from the lower portion. I used all 7 pieces of extensions in these pictures, but I could definitely use less and it would look more subtle. And again, I'd cut them a couple inches shorter and that way the bottom wouldn't have this much red showing. As the length they are right now, I could wear them along with my black hair extensions so that they'd blend in a lot better on the bottom. But that is adding wayyyy too much hair and weight to my already full head of hair.
How fun is this?? I totally want purple and blue ones too. And different ombre colors! But so far I've only bought the red ones and some light brown ones for a more natural look to mix things up. I used to color my hair quite a bit when I was younger (for a while I was blonde... bad mistake... LOL!). I hate how much maintenance it required and how it damaged my hair. I haven't chemically treated my hair in years and I'd like to keep it that way. So this is a great way to mix things up and have some pizzazz with my hair without any commitment! If you want to experiment and see how different colors look with your hair, I'd say go for it and have some fun!
